Classes Have Started

I feel like I could title each week's post as Chaos, because each week has been sooo busy!  Last Monday, we started up our Monday Bible study that we have here at the Bible School.  Some students come and some of the members from the Florence church come as well.  We are studying the book of Luke right now.   Tuesday was a pretty normal day.  We had Italian class.  Alan and I cooked dinner.  If you know me well, you know that whenever I cook I get flour all over me from head to toe.  So, today I actually wore an apron.  Guess what? Yep, you guessed it, not one smidgen of flour on me.  Go figure.  After dinner, I gave Melissa C. a piano lesson.  We don't have any music here, so I've been writing her music and exercises on blank pieces of paper.  I don't know how long that will work, but it is for right now.  After her piano lesson, she helps me out with Italian.  It's a pretty fair trade. Wednesday we picked up some skiing gear that we were borrowing for our week

I cannot believe another week has come and gone!  Time is flying by; we are so busy. Cappuccino! This past week we started language school in Florence.  Our classroom is about a 3 minute walk  (or less) from the Duomo.  There are four other people in our class besides the four of us new Avanti workers.  There's an American girl from New York, a girl form Columbia, a boy from Gutemala, and another guy from the Netherlands.  On Tuesday we went on a guided tour with our school of the Duomo.  We stayed with our class during the tour.  I learned all sorts of interesting things such as: there is a rule in Florence that nothing can be built higher than the Duomo,  the copper ball at the top of the dome has fallen off twice (they have one of the spots marked in the pavement), when the dome was built it was the largest one in the world, and apparently (according to our tour guide) when the ball on top of the dome fell off they built a wooden ramp and had two cows walk up the ramp and

Arriving in Italia!

After a year of preparation, we are finally here in Italy!  We left my parent's house 4am on Monday, the 1st.  After flying to Miami (where we met the two other girls on our team - Megan and Lindsey) we had an 8hr layover before we caught our flight to Dusseldorf, Germany.  From Germany we took a little propeller plane to Florence, Italy.  We got there at noon on Tuesday.  Non of us slept very well on the plane, so we were pretty exhausted when we arrived.  We celebrated the New Year on the plane, and the only other exciting thing that happened was the German lady in front of us who spoke very little and broken English was really mad at Alan because his knees were in the way for her to recline all the way back.  Poor Alan sat with this lady's seat on his knees for most of the flight, and she didn't understand that he wasn't doing it on purpose.  He's just 6'6"!  :) David and Debbie Woodroof are the directors of the Bible
